Corona 1.0 & FREE HDR skies

I'm sure you already know that Corona 1.0 has finally been released, but did you know that when you buy it you will get either a 10% or 20% off discount for my HDRi Sky Shop? (depending on which flavour of Corona you choose) Read more about the various discounts on offer here.

You can also download two half resolution skies for free in the resources/materials section of the website.

As always - I'd love to see any work made with my skies. You may even get a free sky in return!

Shop update

The wait will soon be over! I've had to abandon squarespace for my online shop and am in the process of switching over to a new platform.

As a result I will also be able to finally offer bundles of skies at a discount price, as well as an all round better shopping experience (paypal, accounts amongst other things).

Check back in a couple of days and everything should be ready!

SQUARESPACE EU VAT WOES

If you are patiently waiting for my HDR sky shop to resume business then thank you very much for your patience.

Unfortunately the EU threw a spanner in the works by changing VAT regulations at the start of the year, which has been a major headache especially to small businesses around the world selling products online. (If you are interested: http://euvataction.org/) It doesn't just affect EU based companies, it affects ANY company who wish to sell products to customers based in the EU.

To add to the problems, companies like Squarespace , which my website is built on, have not acted quickly in order to comply with the new regulations. I will look into possible alternatives and even the possibility of selling packs directly as well as keeping the pressure on Squarespace to do something about it.

thanks,

Peter.

EDIT: seems to be hitting 3DOcean.net hard too - http://themeforest.net/forums/thread/new-statements-invoices-february-1st-2015/159252

Haven't read anything about what Turbosquid are doing yet.

HDR Sky Shop

You may have noticed that my shop is offline for now, this is due to new EU VAT regulations which means I need to reorganise things and also wait till Squarespace do the same.

In the meantime, I may be able to sell packs of skies directly, accounting for VAT in the correct way depending on your location. Please email me if interested: peter@peterguthrie.net

Thanks for your patience!

SOA Masterclass 13

Bastiaan Couperus  (hdri 2003 dusk blue)

Very impressed with the finished work from the latest State of Art Academy Masterclass. This is just a selection but please take a look at the write up on the SOA website here.

Congratulations to all of the students, I thought the images were very strong, atmospheric, well composed, and told a story.

Of particular interest to me is that they all use my HDRi skies. I like to think that I can often spot which ones are used, but the truth is it's not at all easy. You can find links to the skies used at the bottom of this post.

Some info from Gianpiero about the masterclass and the process they go through:

"The project we used for the masterclass as case history was the Sea View House from Jackson Clements Burrows Architects
We created the images with 3dsmax, V-ray, Forest Pack, Railclone and Photoshop after 3,5 weeks of intensive teaching.
The Masterclass is the most complete course here at SOA Academy. We train people for all the production stages and then we push them to develop their own style and point of view."

A reminder

If you make any nice images with my HDRi skies, let me know about them. I'm always up for posting cool work here.
