Very impressed with vrayRT so far, looks like it will be really useful for a lot of my work.
Here’s a 10min (longer than intended!) demonstration on vimeo (no sound). VrayRT is using my macpro (2.8 octo) and a slave i7 920.

it’s amazing
i work with vrayforc4d but i know that i really need to go to MAX.
in rt you can setup more then 1 pc as slave? that’s genious!
Pete, that’s seriously how modelling should look like. Magic.
Thanks alot for sharing..vray indeed has gone far ahead from its competitors
What I really like about RT is the ability to use slaves. Hopefully modo will have this option soon as well.
Interactive render let’s you feel the space your working with. Great tool.
Hi Peter, how is VRay RT in conjunction with LWF? did you have to adjust something in the way you work to make the preview look like the actual render?
Hi Ronen, VrayRT uses the same color mapping as normal Vray, so whatever workflow you are using is catered for.
Wow, didn’t realise things had got so advanced
Hi Peter, this is really cool, but is there a setting to cut-off rendering at certain time frame, because it seems that it just keeps on rendering if you leave it. I am afraid to try it yet, because it looks very memory intensive. But the technology looks really cool, maybe when we get a bit faster computers in near future, this will be the way to go.
Hey Peter ! Thank you for the great grass 2 tutorial ! I want to ask you if there is any chance for releasing one of your testscenes to public, it will help me really much because i cant get the lighting and material right. Thank you in advance.
Hi artmak… VRay RT does not have a cut-off setting yet, but i know it’s in the works.
vary good sit
magical to watch…

hi peter. thanks for all this tutorials, the one about the grass was perfect.
but there is something i dont get.
how do you set up another pc as a slave? i have more than one, and i do distributed rendering, but as a slave i have no idea, would you please make a tutorial about it, or reply?
or may be you were talking about distributed rendering in RT. i dont know XD
Peter great video. Couple of questions; does the computer strain when using this meaning does having this turned on chew up a lot of resourses. Also can it give an DOF preview?
Hi Robert, it runs as low priority on the main machine and didnt affect using 3dsmax normally - plus you can have it only run on slave machines if preferred. DOF preview = yes. I think I mess around with focal point on the video at some point.
Santiago - any references to slave rendering here were regarding vrayRT, not vray
I realy surprized by this real time rendering. I hope it will get the same level of normal rendering in the future.
