This is my complete collection of 54 HDRi skies, the ones already available to buy on 3DOcean are marked with a red logo (you can click through to 3DOcean.net). Feel free to let me know in the comments which ones you think would be useful to you. If you hover over the thumbs you should get the name of the HDRi, and if you click you’ll get a 1000px preview.

Its an epic collection !
The exposure range is crazy also, and they cast very nice shadows.
Sometimes people making sky HDRIs don’t make enough range and the sun is not strong enough. But you do it, and that’s super cool
Gonna ask at work that they buy some of them
Or do you gonna sell the full 54 pack ? If so I will wait and buy the whole thing
Great! It takes me about 30mins to prepare each one, and then there is the 3docean approval process, so if you want all of them, be prepared to wait several weeks, or months!
Ok that’s what I wanted to hear
I will buy only the best ones, but its so hard to choose they all look cool hehe
I think I’m going to prepare 1853 next as I like the moody clouds and sun, and want to try it out myself!
hey peter, what an awesome collection! I WANT THEM ALL! Could you please confirm which HDRI you used in your ‘Frame House’. i’d like to purchase that one! thanks, wayne
Frame House - 1725
Square House - 1725
Line House - 1928
Farnsworth House - 1725
Richmond Road - 0743, 1725, 2118
Chelsea Sq Dusk - 2003
Chelsea Sq Day - 1725
Allandale House - 1008
Sail House - 1847
1725 is well used as you can see!, Now that I’ve processed more of them I might starting using a wider range.
no worries, found it on one of hte posts of your images….1725 sun clouds?
thanks peter. look forward how my renders turn out!
Absolutely beautiful collection Peter, from the set I have purchased so far I can honestly say they are worth triple the price your selling them for!
Mr Guthrie your a legend.
a very wide collection, i like it very much, now that i have some spare time im going to fully test it, thanks for a great product peter
Peter, i just wanted to ask whether the HDRI 1725 which you seem to like
, was used in conjunction with a direct light/ vray sun in, say, your ‘Frame House’ renderings or is the HDRI enough on its own?
In conjunction with a vraysun usually
Great staff man u should make this available in pack mode as well
from the ones that are in stock my fav’s are 1725 and 1222, keep the good work rolling!
you should come to portugal to produce some “mediterainian” sun inclination.
nice, my 1725 download should be waiting for me at home. thanks a lot peter. looking forward to giving it a test drive!
Just bought the 1725 and erm… What a joy i have no words this staff is amazing once again I think that a whole pack of this on one dvd would be a best seller and I’d be the first to buy it!
Hey Peter,
the HDRI is amazing and lookin forward to incorporating it into one of my work scenes! If you’ll indulgeme, i have two questions:
1. i assume that for your projects (square/ frame/ farnsworth, etc) you used the HDRI as the background as apposed to one of the backplates that you supply with your product seeing as your hdri has no alpha? your renderings seem to come out so crisp and sharp…..which brings me to my second point:
2. slightly off topic; i have hada go at using the universal settings for the first time. my renderings seem to have a slight blur/ fuzziness; ie they do not come out as crisp and sharp as my usual IR/LC setup. Is there, in our mind, any explanation for this that you can think of.
Thanks again for the great images!
Wayne
Hi Wayne,
Thanks for the feedback!
1. see my answer re: alpha channel here:
http://www.peterguthrie.net/blog/2010/02/hdri-sky-lighting-tutorial/
only applicable to vray, mentalray and others might not have such issues
2. Depends a lot on resolution, I find for example that for 2000px a noise threshold of 0.01 is about right, higher and you can go to 0.02, lower and you might need 0.005
Hope that helps
BTW, most of the time I don’t bother replacing the sky, I just use it as directly rendered from HDRI (farnsworth, frame house etc)
Hello Peter…
When using hdr+vray, should i turn off the “cast shadows” from dome light ?
PS: Buyed the 1725 and 2003
by the way Peter,
is there a valuable way in placing the vraysun in the hdri sun ?
The trial and error way is pretty time consuming ;(
Yes wanted to ask the same question Pete, how to position the vray sun or target direct in the sun is positioned in the hdri?
well all you need to worry about is getting the height of the sun correct, as the sun will line up perfectly if you place a sun south>north and set the HDR bitmap offset to 0.
I normally set up a wide angle camera pointed at the sun and do a render with a the domelight on, note the position of the sun (finger on screen
) then turn off the domelight, put a vraysky into background and hit render. Then you can adjust the height of the vraysun accordingly.
Theres probably a clever way of working out the sun height by measuring the height of the sun on the HDRi…. anyone?
will be grabbing these!
some good overcast / dark ones next please
will do, 1313 coming up next
very valuable assets..
I purchased some of your hdri images, very professional..
among the best i have seen!
many thanks.
Hi Peter
Terrific HDRI Imgs and very good tutorial.
Bought one and im thinking about buying more. Excellent quality.
Question:
Its very easy to control horizontal rotations, but could you so kindly explain if its possible to move the hdri to a lower the hdri horizon position relativly to the camera (kinda rotate it vertically)? Is it possible in anyway without cutting or tiling it?
Cheers
Sry Peter. I got another question (same of correntes user).
When using vray sun + hdri do you turn off “cast shadows” in the dome light?
Hope you can clearify these doubts.
Cheers
Hi Peter
I have bought one of your HDRI maps, which is in excellent quality, thank you
I have a question though. the map as shipped is around 150 mbyte, for previews i would however like a smaller version.
I therefore try to downsize the HDRI map in photoshop and save it in a new name.
But when i try to make a render with the downsized map, i get overbright results.
Do you know a good method to downsize the map, and preserve the right lightspectrum?
Best Regards.
@metrocubicodigital ‘cast shadows’ - no, I just make sure the vraysun and HDRi are aligned
@drzukunft sorry, never had memory problems with HDRs so not had to deal with this. For some reason, resaving in photoshop as .hdr does seem to bring the file size down, but not sure that will help.
“Question:

Try putting a very small value into the v offset, like -0.01
@peter
by saying ‘cast shadows’ - no, y mean y dont turn off “cast shadows” or “cast shadows” is off ?:)
I leave all settings in the vray dome light at default (apart from multiplier and texture slot) so cast shadows is ticked. Thats just what I do though, feel free to experiment!
Hi Peter,
great HDRIs!
Would be nice if there was a discount on buying, say, 5 or 10 at once. Or just the whole pack at a package price..:-)
Cheers,
Stefanie

Hi Peter, I’m from Argentina. Some time ago I follow your work and now I am in the need to use one of your HDRI but I am still a student and I do not have credit cards. I would like to know if there is another way to get them. From already thank you very much. Greetings. Luis
@hany there is a tutorial on this blog already for exactly what you are asking!
@luis sorry there isnt. You can still use paypal without a credit card though
