The first HDRi skydome is available on 3docean. It’s a clear blue sky with just a few clouds. I’m hoping to be able to offer packs at a discounted price as well, but that’s dependent on 3docean, so for now it’s just going to be individually. Feel free to let me know what type of skies you would like to see next, the image below is just a selection from many!
UPDATE: The slideshow below will automatically update as I add new HDRi skies.

Hi Peter,
The one you posted was very good. What I like best about the one you put up on Ocean over say, the Dosch or Hyperfocal HDRI’s is the addition of all the backplate jpgs! It makes it a lot easier to comp in a sky afterwords and already be 90% of the way there.
Thanks again for offering these HDRI’s, they’re very good quality.
thanks for the feedback, glad to hear the backplates work well
Hi Peter
wooden proposed by you ( http://3docean.net/item/5-plywood-sheets/86370 )(tiling) plywoods , they agree.? And finished material is.?under maxa / vreya.
Hi arch515, don’t really understand the question, but each separate plywood texture tiles and the renders on the page you linked to are examples of the material in action.
These are great, Peter. I would vote for the pink/blue dusk sky (5th column from the left, penultimate row)
hi peter, i bought your wooden materials those are great, im looking forward to test your hdri, any settings recomendations?
thanks
I have a nice cloudy HDRi now. Thank you.
I have a few of your wonderful looking HDRs, but I lack knowledge of how they should be used. I am a complete novice working with HDR lighting. I can get results using these EXRs and the help document provided, but I am having difficulty gaining control over the way the results look. I am going to have a peek at my VRay Complete Guide and 3dats books to see if I can find more info on the subject.
I was actually here to see if you had done any tutorials on your methods of using image based lighting, and it appears that you came really close in your “how to make an HDRi” topic. Do you still have plans to make a tutorial on how you are using these? I for one would be very interested in this topic, and will gladly put some more money into acquiring more of your library once I get the hang of them.
Thank you very much Mr. Guthrie!
Hi Ben, working on it right now! Should go live sometime tomorrow, so check back then. Thanks for buying!
Excellent news! I have gotten a little farther in figuring it out, but I am certain as per usual that I still have much to learn from your tutorial.
You mentioned requests…I am probably going to pick up 1222, and I can’t be sure until I do but it looks like the sun is hiding behind the clouds a little bit in that one. From that assumption, I could use one with a less obstructed sun. From the bottom right, the thrid one up looks like it might have a little less sun obstruction but still some good clouds to make the reflections interesting?
Thanks again Peter.
I’ll try and work out which one that is and upload it next.
Re: 1222, it is a bit cloudy/hazy, but I think its perfect in city scenes, and it still gives really nice subtle shadows. As its taken at midday the sun is a bit higher in the sky too which helps with the shadows.
Here is an example render:

Thank you for the example, it helps a bunch. That actually seems about perfect for what I need in most of my projects, so I will definately be picking that one up.
Going to go take a closer look at your tutorial now.
Thank you so much for the prompt responses!
Got the new 1103 Sun Clouds, thank you!
I have used 1222 Sun Clouds with great success on two projects so far. I have used 2003 Dusk Blue on one project, and it came out very well. I will be trying 1103 on my next daytime exterior. I also have 1735 Clear Sky that I might try to use in my next interior, it seems well suited for that. I will probably try to pick up 2009 Dusk Pink soon as another option for my evening/night renders.
Thanks again for providing such top-notch content to the community!
Thanks Ben, glad to hear they are useful!
I was got to let you know about the 1103 one, but forgot! Seems you found it anyway. It was the one you pointed out (third up from bottom right)
Do you use a fisheye lens to do those HDRIs ?
They look awesome. And the renders are very nice also
You should google “smart ibl” its a way of taking 1 HDRI and making an entire IBL set than can be loaded with a plugin. Its less noise than regular HDRI, its used in cinema mostly
Hi Peter,
These HDRI’S look great.
Could you clarify one thing for me. I have heard that HDRI’S
are best used for sunset and sunrise scenes. Can HDRI’S be used
in full daylight scenes and still be succesful? If your using a vraySun in conjuction with a HDRI and the sun is high in the sky, does it defeat the purpose of using the HDRI? I have know doubt that these images are of the best quality and would love to know how to use them properly.
Hi Nic, I always use my HDRi’s with a vraysun for daytime shots now, I feel it adds subtlety to the lighting and interest to the reflections.
Hi Peter~
Already bought a few HDRIs and am loving them. Question on your setup with the vray dome…
The resolution of the texture is capped at 2048 while the resolution of the exr file itself is considerably larger. Do you have a workaround for this or is it just the way it is? My shadow pass seems to be a little noisy when rendered in a pass although the beauty pass looks great. I’m wondering if this might be the cause. I can clean up the shadows by adding sunlight etc. Thoughts?
