Something I started ages ago and need a new incentive to finish off. This is the Mendes da Rocha Residence in São Paulo, Brazil by Paulo Mendes da Rocha, 2006 Pritzker Architecture Prize Laureate.
The concrete material is temporary, and I have more internal walls to add, then the furniture. The Paulistano (by Mendes da Rocha) is the main reason I decided to model this house, I really needed a more suitable location for it than this room:
When its done, I intend to share the sketchup model on the pushpullbar forums, there will be an update here as well of course.

top two images for sure one of the most beautiful renders i saw…. very atmospheric, amazing lighting…..
These are great images Pete, as usual. I look forward to seeing your tutorials on trees for Inverness Campus in due course?!
Hi!
first i must say i truly admire ur work!:)
second this is an extraordinary house. beside an extraordinary house its a marvelous piece of architecture, and i m certain u will turn it into great renderings as usual.
I was very lucky to be able to visit this house in 2003 with Paulo himself! I t was quite an experience!
anyways i have quite a few photos from that day which i would have no problem sharing with u if u would find it of any use.
Keep up the good work!
Regards,
Nuno
Hi Nuno,
I’d love to see your photos, there isn’t much available out in www land on this building, in fact the best photos I could find were in elle decoration magazine!
Thanks everyone for the comments
The first image might be the most beautiful of all you ever did, one can look at it for a very long time and just find more and more little things. The only thing that needs a little more work is the wooden floor - I think it would do it good if you made the planks different in width and if you gave them some roughness and dirt. Also if you added some imperfections to the concrete.
I like the sketchup image very much as well.
I stopped counting all these “started and never finished scenes”
Hope to see this one finished soon. Test renders looks promising.
I’m looking for some good conrete maps. Good you tell me where did you get these?
Thanks Pawel, hope to get the time to finish this one off soon!
This concrete texture is from arroway textures. I’d definitely recommend their products, they are so high res you can often take them to bits and reassemble them into new textures.
Hey, just checking if you’re still working on it
Hey Peter.
I love your work, this one is especially amazing!
I use arroway textures myself, they are truely facinating in detail.
However i have some difficulties making them look stunning in vray, can you post a tutorial/example etc with the settings?
Best Regards

emmm, i will but I still haven’t finished it!
Hello Peter,
I am really looking forward seeing you finish this project someday. The renders look very promising so far. Great job! Because of personal interest in this wonderful house: May I ask you from where you got the Floor-plans, Elevations, Sections etc. of this house? Do you know a good book or anything else where I can find a good documentation of it? Thank you very much!
Best regards, David
